Adult bikes
With their years of experience, our technical staff is very selective when it comes to the quality of our bikes. Our multi-geared adult bikes are manufactured by Multicycle. Theìr top-class aluminum hybrid model is built according to our own critical standards and specifications and is (with apologies to our competitors) the best rental bike you will find in Holland.
Your bicycle will be prepared for your arrival, taking account of your height, personal requirements and your accessory reservation. A toolkit, patchkit, mini-pump, cable-lock and water bottle are of course included in the rental price. Insurance can, if desired, be contracted at the tour start for Euro 1 per day.
Feel free to bring your own saddle and/or pedals; to be indicated on the booking form.

Children's bikes

Tulip Cycling offers a range of bikes and trailers suitable for children of all ages. They are chosen and adjusted to fit with each child's cycling ability and for their maximum safety and enjoyment. Your child's bike is selected from within the category below (based on a growth chart and also our own experience) and also your personal requests already made on the booking form.
Any youth over 5'2" / 157 cm tall should get a small adult bike.

Accessories

For some people it is hard to believe that, with the exception of racing-cyclists, most Dutch people (including children) cycle without a helmet. Bicycle lanes and paths are safe and motor traffic gives a lot of consideration to bikers. Tulip Cycling however fully respects your choice to wear a helmet. Bring your own or rent one of our TÜV tested helmets. |

You could get caught in an occasional rain shower, even in the summer. That's why Holland is so fresh and green. So it is always advisable to take a rain-jacket with you, or you can rent one of our practical light-weight and strong nylon rain capes. 100% wind and waterproof. Including hood and integrated 'stowaway' cover.

| Mobile phone: |
|
A cell phone can be very helpful, especially when on a self-guided tour and you require to make contact with our office, or your accommodation for the night. It also provides great peace of mind allowing family and friends to reach you in case of emergency, or for simply keeping in touch.
Check with your service provider to find out if your current mobile phone operates in the Netherlands and also how much they charge for (international) calls. Even incoming calls can be quite expensive.
For only Euro 7 per day we rent the Siemens M35i mobile phone.

- No charge for incoming calls;
- Number presets including your accommodation along the route;

We always provide a small toolkit, a patchkit, a spare tube, a mini-pump, a water bottle and a cable-lock with the rental bikes.

Route guidance
We use the most up-to-date and dedicated route support system available to cyclists. It combines the reliability and accuracy of GPS navigation, along with a laminated paper map providing the route overview. The itinerary is based on your personal choices, together with our route manager's comprehensive knowledge of the safest and the most scenic routes.
Your personal daily routes are pre-installed into the easy-to-use lightweight Garmin eTrex Venture Cx GPS device. It also displays many Point of Interest along your route, including restaurants and museums. The GPS adds a totally new dimension to the self-guided touring concept. Taking a wrong turning and getting lost becomes a thing of the past! Garmin has designed very intuitive screen menus and so you certainly don't have to be a computer nerd to operate this clever little device!

Transporting luggage

If you don't want to carry your luggage on the bike, use our courier service for reliable and safe daily, luggage transport. Just leave your luggage in your room or in the hotel lobby and our courier will pick it up after 10 a.m. and deliver it to your next hotel/B&B before 4 p.m. |

If you choose the Tulip Cycling luggage transport option then we advise that you rent the handlebar bag for the storage of small, daily items and valuables.
If you plan to do shopping along the way or carrying a picnic lunch, you might like to consider renting an extra pair of small, rear panniers. |

If you choose to carry your luggage with you on the bicycle, rent our high-end 'Quorum' series bags and panniers. Manufactured by AGU and made from ultra- strong Kodra nylon which is water-repellent and light-weight. For extra protection the bags are fitted with integral rain covers. The bags are easy to adjust and remove by way of the patented 'klickfix' system. The size and quantity of bags you require for your tour will depend on your travelling style ('light' or 'heavy'). Remember you can compare the capacity of the panniers with the capacity of your existing luggage. If you have more luggage to carry you can also rent a luggage trailer.
If you have extra luggage that you don't want to bring along on your cycling tour, then it can be left behind at our depot; safe and free of charge. |

Breakdown & Insurance
High quality and well-maintained gear means fewer problems, which is better for you... and for us. But despite the quality of our equipment, you could be faced with equipment failure. For minor defects that may prevent you from continuing your tour, you can use the toolkit provided or you can go directly to one of the many local bicycle repair shops. In case of major breakdowns that prevent using the bicycle altogether, contact our base station at any time of the day. Tulip Cycling is associated with FietsNED which is a group of independent bicycle technicians who each work in their own regions over the whole of the Netherlands. Combined, they form a network of fully equipped mobile workshops for emergency repairs. In the event of a breakdown, the FietsNED response time is 30 minutes and their 'on the spot repair' success rate is 95%. For the remaining 5% of breakdowns the bike is replaced as quickly as possible.
